What type of visa should I apply for? What are the fees?

Please visit the UK Visas and Immigration (GOV.UK) website to find out if you need to apply for a UK visa, the type of visa required and the fees for each type of visa.

UK visa fees are determined by the Embassy/Consulate in accordance with their rules and policies. VFS Global advises applicants to pay close attention to the latest notifications from the Embassy/Consulate for specific fee information.

Why is the visa application delayed?

Delays in the outcome of visa applications are the result of a combination of factors. Every year the peak season leads to a surge in the number of visa applications and consequently the processing time is lengthened. VFS Global manages only the administrative and non-judgemental aspects of the visa application process. Decisions on visa applications, including the availability of appointment slots and the timelines to process them, are at the sole discretion of the respective client governments.

For coping with the above problems, applicants may consider the following suggestions:

Apply in advance

Visa applications for popular countries in peak season may encounter situation like limited appointment slots and long processing time. VFS Global strongly recommend applicants to plan early and apply in advance. Currently, most countries accept visa applications 90 days in advance and UK student visas can be applied for up to 6 months prior to the course start date.

Confirm visa type, check processing time

Check the official website to confirm the type of visa you need to avoid delays due to incorrect applications.

Make an appointment in advance

Most of the visa application centres accept applications by appointment only. This ensures that you have a shorter waiting time to submit your application at the centre.

Inspection documents

Please refer to the list of documents in the online visa application form you received from GOV.UK for the documents you need. Then upload your documents according to the document upload instructions. You are responsible for correctly categorising the documents you upload, so please follow the instructions carefully.
